Thrashers Team Report (Yahoo! Sports)

Wed, 2010-04-07 08:35

In a bit of serious news that was likely only noticed by the most diehard Thrashers fans and the team's management, highly touted Atlanta prospect Patrice Cormier has found himself in trouble with the law.

Cormier, acquired by the Thrashers in the trade that sent Ilya Kovalchuk to the New Jersey Devils, was charged in early May with assault after an on-ice incident during a Quebec Major Junior Hockey League game back in January.

Cormier, a forward with the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies, was suspended for the remainder of the season and the junior league's playoffs after the Jan. 17 incident, in which Cormier delivered an elbow to the head of Mikael Tam of the Quebec Remparts. Tam was left convulsing on the ice and suffered brain trauma from the hit.

Brodeur wins 600th, Devils blank Thrashers 3-0 (AP)

Wed, 2010-04-07 02:41
For Martin Brodeur, win No. 600 was no big deal, significant only because it's a nice, round number. Fittingly, he reached the milestone with one more zero of his own, shutting out the Atlanta Thrashers to lead the New Jersey Devils to a 3-0 win Tuesday night in Ilya Kovalchuk's return to Atlanta.

Leopold lifts Penguins past Thrashers 4-3 in OT (AP)

Sun, 2010-04-04 02:50
Maybe the Pittsburgh Penguins didn't need a team meeting or an 8:30 a.m. practice to refocus them following a bad loss. Maybe they needed Evgeni Malkin and Sergei Gonchar on the ice again. Jordan Leopold scored his first goal for Pittsburgh at 3:50 of overtime after Atlanta failed three times to hold leads, and the Penguins bounced back from one of their worst losses all season to beat the...
